In this work titled Tukar, celebrated contemporary artist Mark Justiniani creates a playful composition that veers away from his usual works imbibed with heavy social commentary or strains of magical realism. “Tukar” is a Cebuano word, which means “to play a musical instrument.” This particular piece references the term to lightheartedly depict a stout man playing his guitar. A bottle of beer is placed beside him, suggesting leisure and relaxation. (A.M.)
