ABOUT THE WORK

One of the most notable artists that Angono, Rizal, ever produced was Jose Blanco. Known for his murals about the Angono life, Blanco's interpretation of pastoral life and the individuals that populate its down-home, unpretentious and replete with honesty, is combined with an innate artistic sense as he was a fisherman himself. As Carlos “Botong” Francisco’s successor as the eminent painter of Angono scenes, Blanco's style has been called by art critic Alice Guillermo as ”folk realism,” notable for the graphic perspective of his work as well as his use of earthy colors.
