The subtitle is quite clarifying: “Collection of articles and poems dedicated to alleviate the sad situation of the wounded in the campaign”. According to Retana, the list of authors includes the most prominent authors in the Philippines at the time. As a book that was intended to be read by soldiers on the battle front or in hospitals, most of the print run was lost and very few copies exist. Worldcat indicates the existence of only two copies.
