ABOUT THE WORK

Kim Oliveros was born in 1990. He studied and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Painting and Visual Communication at the country’s foremost art school, the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts. He then started joining group exhibitions in 2009 and then eventually put up a one-man show in 2011. Oliveros’ use of monochromatic tones and hues, especially that of the color grey, is refreshingly unconventional yet exudes a romantic and timeless beauty. The works of visual artist Kim Oliveros capture the poignancy and beauty of human mundanity. The work’s elements effectively creates a visual language akin to a dream or a memory in that it is not only affectingly engaging, but rife with meaning as well. Rendered in a predominantly subdued palette, Oliveros’ signature style utilizes the bare essentials of color and light in order to create an engaging work that comes together both seamelessy and beautifully.
