Research is indispensable to him and his multidisciplinary studio’s creative process in which they undertake the responsibility of articulating narratives through understanding the past in order to create pieces for a vibrant, socially and environmentally responsible future. Impressions of place-making, identity, memory and meaning, are central to his design process as he aims to create structures conducive to positive forms of human. For Adjaye, architecture and design is “a social act” - it’s about constructing pieces that acknowledge and understand the histories it contains and represents, while creating something entirely new, in order to serve communities into their futures.
