Geny Lopez's art collection is part of Asian Cultural Council Auction 2024

The late 'Kapitan Geny,' who led ABS-CBN until the '90s, owned masterpieces by National Artists Jose Joya, Vicente Manansala, and Benedicto Cabrera.

Leon Gallery and The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) are holding their first major auction of the year this weekend.

The ACC Auction, now on its ninth year, is happening at 2 p.m. on March 9 at Leon Gallery Makati. You can catch a preview of the lots from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until March 8.

A highlight of the auction is the art collection of the late Eugenio "Geny" Lopez Jr., who led ABS-CBN Corporation until the '90s. Fondly known as "Kapitan Geny," he owned masterpieces by some of the country's National Artists. These include Jose Joya's "Yellow Abode," Vicente Manansala's "Vendors," and Benedicto Cabrera's "Three Faces of Sabel."

Lopez also has a treasure trove of antique and contemporary furniture, from a long dining table by Manila's "Romancer of Wood," Osmundo Esguerra.
