ABOUT THE WORK

Augusto Albor’s characteristic privileging of texture and material, enhanced with elements of invention. True to his oeuvre, the composition is progressively minimal and dominantly grey. His abstraction articulate attentiveness to the interplay between two surfaces: the body and the material. The textured, stone like monochrome is relieved by the configuration of darker tones. The result of all this is a virile, bold and poignant style which is visually closer in spirit to architectural brutalism and neo brutalism than mainstream abstraction. Albor is something of an institution in the local art scene. His long career began in the seventies, and his abstract works and rugged, yet minimal aesthetic have since been displayed in countless exhibits both here and abroad.
