ABOUT THE WORK

Having transitioned from the graphic arts of cartooning to the fine arts of painting, Malang still retained the spontaneity of his strokes in order to tell a story, such as in this work, Kambal. In this work, Malang reinterpreted the mother-and-child genre by depicting twins, who look at the viewer with dots for eyes. The mother, saddled by carrying two children, seem not to mind as a faint smile breaks across her face.
