ABOUT THE WORK

Lao Lianben has fashioned his own notable abstract language, which constitutes of Zen-like, minimalist shapes rendered in swift, calligraphic strokes. The building blocks of his style are apparent in this suite of gestural creations in watercolor accomplished with the fluent, sweeping motion of a brush. The accidental bleeds and drips give the work a spontaneous quality, appearing as a constellation of notations to the passage of almost translucent, curvilinear shapes.
