A pleasing, balanced composition marks this relleve of the beloved saint to whom Filipinos still invoke for protection against disease and sickness. The three figures --- the healing angel, the faithful Saint and his friendly dog -- are all encased in arches. They also stand on classical waisted plinths, as wooden santos did. The entire effect is both charming and very formal, as if the viewer were seeing a small grouping of images inside an Urna.
