Saprid’s medium—chiefly brass and other metal—is welded in a rather rough manner that induces more drama through its texturize flare—which proves to be a strength of his creations.
Amihan is a fantastic example of Saprid’s “live” sculpture that epitomizes the artist’s depiction of mythical demonstration and flamboyant display of “frozen motion,” in which the viewer perceivably detects movement in an otherwise static object.
Through his art, he was able to portray Philippine folklore characters as well as historically consequential and religious figures manifested by his distinctive interpretation that became embedded in his repertoire.
